Westlink Career Institute is a certified American Heart Association (AHA) training center and offers our students HeartCode BLS both online and onsite. Our HeartCode BLS course trains participants to promptly recognize several life-threatening emergencies, give high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilations and provide early use of an AED. Reflects science and education from the American Heart Association Guidelines Update for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC).

Who Should Take This BLS Course?

The AHA’s BLS Course is designed for healthcare professionals and other personnel who need to know how to perform CPR and other basic cardiovascular life support skills in a wide variety of in-facility and pre-hospital settings An accessible version (AHA Product Number 15-1421) is available for students with hearing, vision and/or motor impairments. Westlink Career Institute is a certified American Heart Association (AHA) training center and offers our students HeartCode BLS on-site classes. The on-site class are 2 days @ 8 hours per day for a total of 16 hours for completion. The course consists of lecture, testing, and skills competency. The student will receive a BLS certificate upon satisfying all components. See the components covered in this class listed below:

Westlink On-line (e-Learning) HeartCode BLS

Cost – $28.50 (on-line component only)

To better accommodate our student’s schedules, Westlink Career Institute now offers e-learning courses for HeartCode BLS through the American Heart Association (AHA). The course has two different components (i.e., e-learning and onsite). The on-line course consist of 8 Modules, 4 e-simulations, and two video tutorials. Students can study the material at their own pace on-line and then come into Westlink and take the skills portion of the test on-site. All the BLS courses come with an e-manual (included) that will be built into your course upon access. You must complete the course on a laptop or computer, as the course material has simulations that are not mobile friendly. Google Chrome is preferred browser. Please keep in mind that you may log in and out of your course as needed (EXCEPT when you are taking the exam – you cannot log out)

· Download, Print or e-mail Certificate – Must show before taking skills

What does this on-line or on-site BLS course teach?

· High-quality CPR for adults, children, and infants

· The AHA Chain of Survival, specifically the BLS components

· Important early use of an AED

· Effective ventilations using a barrier device

· Importance of teams in multirescuer resuscitation and performance as an effective team member during multi-rescue CPR

· Relief of foreign-body airway obstruction (choking) for adults and infants

· Whether you choose on-line or on-site, you will need to take your skills exam at Westlink

On-line e-learning Course: 3½ – 4 Hours (online component only)
